Daau United Reserves and Academy is the most senior side of the Daau United's youth pathway system. The senior reserve side competes in the Daau Premier League, the nation's 2nd tier professional football league whilst the under-21's division competes in the DNTP Under-21 League. The senior reserve side is a mix of senior players from the first team and some youth team members who have been recommended for higher intensity levels.
The reserve and academy side share the Catang Football Complex in Catang for matchdays and trainings. The senior reserve side also uses the MPBK Stadium for matchdays if required.
History
The Reserve side known as Daau United II, competes in the Daau Premier League and has achieved a few midtable finishes in the prior seasons and is not allowed to be promoted even if the side wins the championship due to a DAFA rule that a reserve side may not compete in the same league as it's senior side. The club has produced a number of youth talents, notably being Tavark Tupama and his brother Tioshala whom have been successful cases.
Players in the reserve division compete in the Daau Premier League and are promoted to the senior side if needed. Players are willing to play for such reserve teams in the second division due to the relatively secure and stable income, unlike other DPL or Daau League sides which may suffer from financial instability. Such is why certain players would rather stay with the reserve team than move on with their careers.
Goal
As Daau's top club leading in youth production, the Daau United youth pathway system is the largest and most effective due to its many divisions. The reserve and academy section strives to provide teenagers in Daau a place to grow fruitfully and maybe a path to professional football. The youth pathway is set into 2 systems, with one being the Academy and the other being the Football School. The Daau United Academy side competes in DNTP competitions and is a program geared towards players with a goal to turn professional in the future. The Academy program is free of charge and selections are made based on player's technical levels and game intelligence. The Daau United Football School however is a more low intensity program and is generally for players looking to improve their skills as a side program or as a pastime. Players in the Football School program compete in the Daau Youth Championship and are able to be promoted to the Academy program if their progress matches with players of the level.
