Benacia tour of 1684
The Benacia Tour was a diplomatic visit that took place in early 1684 AN. It started with a visit from the Verionian leadership to Batavia and Francia, which marked the first official state visit by a Head of State of Gran Verionia. The Verionian leadership continued to visit multiple nations on the Western continent. Starting the visit in 's Koningenwaarde highlighted the historical ties of friendship between Gran Verionia and the nations of Batavia and Francia.
Delegation
The leadership of Gran Verionia was represented by Supreme Director Geraldo Marquéz Torrés, the President of the Council of Government Regina Verion, Secretary of Foreign Relations Felíx Vizcarra Allende and the Secretary of Industry, Commerce and Natural Resources Santiago de la Rio de Fuerte y Martíns. Additionally, President Rodrigo Calderón Mendèz of Los Liberados was part of the delegation, as were many representatives of local governments and businesses.
Visit to Batavia and Francia
In Batavia, the Verionian delegation arrived in 's-Koningenwaarde where they were received by the Batavian King and members of the Lagerhuis. Subsequently, a meeting with Batavian businessmen, such as the director of the IJzeren Compagnie and local politicians took place. After that, the delegation took the Orient Express to Francia where a treaty of mutual recognition and friendship were discussed. The visit to Francia was cut short by the announcement from the Francian Reichsrat about plans of a union between Batavia and Francia that came as a complete surprise to the Verionian leaders, as well as to many prominent Batavians. The Verionian delegation left the same day for Kasterburg, leaving the diplomatic discussions that had started so fruitfully in limbo.
Visit to Kasterburg
In Kasterburg, the delegation met with the now very old Magistrate Reginald de Montfort. The next day, Governor Isor Verion of Chryste arrived and talks started on the merger of Kasterburg and Chryste as one autonomous republic within Gran Verionia, which would be the Benacian Republic. The view of Benacian consolidation had been a life-long goal of Isor, and the proposal was discussed with a large number of Kasterburger representatives of political and economical life.
