Balar (also known in Celebaradian as Inis Balar, or Balar Island) is an island to the North-West of the North Island of Feanoria. It is part of the Kingdom of Celebarad.
Outline of Balar
The Isle of Balar is largely covered by a large forest and mountain range, and its inlands are sparsely populated. The large majority of citizens live in settlements on the Northern- and Southern coasts of the island. Largest cities are the capital of of Pelargard in the South and the port town of Forsted in the North. The Balari are known for their woodworking skills, and wood products are the greatest source of revenue for the islanders. Especially Pelargard has a large shipbuilding industry, incorporating the latest Calbain technology. In addition, Balar is home to the Wood Snail, which is a source for a rich, and exquisite, red dye that is unique to the island and a status symbol throughout East Keltia. Because of the impenetrable nature of the Balar forest, the island is home to a specialised militia of Forest Guardians, who are tasked with keeping the main trails from North to South accessible for trade.
