Augusto Belmonte (Alexandrian: Auguste Belmonte; Martino: Augusto Belmonte) (born 1673 AN) is a Natopian cardinal and the current Dean of the College of Cardinals of the Autocephalous Nazarene Church of Alexandria. Born in Geneva to a minor Alexandrian noble family that had maintained continuity in the ancient capital through the post-imperial period, Belmonte was ordained in 1697 AN and spent the early decades of his ministry in pastoral work among the working-class Alexandrian communities of Geneva. He was elevated to the episcopate as Auxiliary Bishop of Geneva in 1721 AN and to the cardinalate in 1728 AN, just one year before the conclave that elected Boniface VII. His election as Dean of the College in 1746 AN reflected widespread respect for his pastoral temperament, theological depth, and reputation for fairness across factional lines. At 78 years old, Belmonte remained eligible to vote in the 1752 conclave and did not seek the archbishopric himself; as Dean of the College of Cardinals he presided over the pre-conclave congregations that preceded the election of Cardinal Armin Wagner as Boniface VIII.
