The Andromeda Tech Corporation, usually referred to as Andromeda Tech, the Andromeda Corporation, or sometimes just Andromeda, is a tech conglomerate company in the Ciric Confederacy that consists of the parent company of Andromeda Tech and several subsidiary companies that perform various roles in the overall company's interest. Headquartered in Stonewall, the corporation was founded in 1582 by Helikar Andromeda as an innovation company. It focused very quickly on buying out rival technology companies in tech, and built a company base that could perform a multitude of services, causing a meteoric rise as the corporation quickly became one of the wealthiest companies in the confederacy, earning Helikar Andromeda and his successors a luxuriant lifestyle as the head of the largest company in the confederacy. Their latest move has been the purchase of HanCo, a major online retailer in the confederacy, and rebranded the storefront in the Andromeda style. Lately, the corporation has turned its attention to acquiring an even wider service range, intending to branch out from tech; the corporation has recently founded a branch dedicated to agricultural services.
Andromeda Tech is heavily incorporated into many aspects of the lives of confederate citizens, due to the far-reaching nature of its industry. This has caused a measure of concern among confederate lawmakers who perceive the company as a threat to the power that the government has. While the company certainly does hold a good deal of power in the confederacy, its continued cooperation with the confederate government has prevented the company from being split by anti-trust measures taken against similar conglomerates.
Andromeda does have immediate plans to expand outside of the confederacy, and it is currently looking to set up trading and distribution outlets in various foreign nations.
Governance
Andromeda Tech is governed by a board of directors, with the CEO being the chairman and chief executive of this board. This may seem like a simple system to outsiders, but it is a very distinct shift from the method that the governance was once governed by. Near the confederacy's foundation, many companies chose a governance system that was, instead of being modeled off the new democratic model adopted by the nation, chose a governance model that had more inspiration from ancient feudal systems. This took a dramatic shift near the beginning of the seventeenth century AN, when large companies began the change to a more democratic system governed by a board.
The board is responsible for making decisions about the actions of the company at large, but, as a conglomerate, the actions of the main company of Andromeda tend to be more in the way of controlling the direction of the parent company's subsidiaries. Each subsidiary is governed separately by an individual system similar to the board governing the corporation as a whole, with the chairmen of each of the subsidiary boards being on the board of the main corporation.
The corporation maintains a secretariat additional to the board that provides an advisory role, the members of which are elected by company employees across all subsidiaries. The secretariat was established in 1655 following reforms among the corporation and its subsidiaries to maintain its reputation for its good treatment of its workers and its policies of worker security in the changing political climate. The secretariat also provides valuable insight for the corporate owners and the board as to how the employees perceive the directives the company undertakes
Despite the corporation having yet to expand outside of the antarctic, though the corporation did successfully spread to Caradia once the Union Australis was established, the company does maintain executives in its board of directors responsible for foreign operations. These executives are primarily responsible for instigating expansion to the main continents of Micras, as well as administrating trade to those specific continents, as much trade the confederacy conducts is done under the banner of Andromeda.
Areas of Operations
Andromeda Tech currently has trading operations on three continents, though none are on the mainland, as Sypyr, Caplona, and Hypernostria, the islands on which the confederacy and Caradia are situated on, are part of the continents of Cibola, Tapfer, and Corum, respectively. The corporation has expressed a desire to spread to the mainland of every major continent, but has also acknowledged that that is unlikely to happen due to its overall political compass, which has had the corporation urge the confederacy and the Union Australis to join the USSO in pursuit of economic growth, as the corporation views the economic policies of the USSO as conducive to improved growth; generally, the corporation has urged the confederacy to "choose a side, internationally speaking; we'll be forced to lean one direction anyway, so we might as well go all the way".
The corporation maintains trading and distribution centres in the following countries as of IV.1680:
Flag | Nation | Time Served | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Cira | 1582 - |
The corporation was founded in the Ciric Confederacy, and has served the country since the beginning of the company. The company is heavily invested in the confederacy, and as a result most citizens incorporat products and services from the corporation into their daily lives. | |
Caradia | 1679 - |
The corporation expanded to Caradia in late 1679, following the formation of the Union Australis between the duchy and the confederacy. Since it expanded, the corporation has been at odds with the Caradian Coal Company, which has thus far maintained complete hegemony over most of the areas of Caradian industry. The corporation's generally cheaper prices due to superior production methods and its far better treatment of workers has forced the Caradian Coal Company to search for methods to compete, which it has not had to do since it began receiving government funding. |
