Aldurian Island Tunnel Network
The Aldurian Island Tunnel Network is a proposed infrastructure project consisting of three underwater tunnels connecting the mainland of Alduria to three major Aldurian islands: Valenciana, Fontrouet, and Valladares. If constructed, the project would represent one of the largest tunnel engineering undertakings in Micras, with a combined length of over 420 kilometers of underwater passages.
Background
The tunnel proposal emerged amid increasing economic competition among Nouvelle Alexandrie's port cities and growing recognition of the strategic importance of the Aldurian islands in international trade routes. The three target islands: Valenciana, Fontrouet, and Valladares are administrative divisions within the region of Alduria and have historically relied on ferry services and air transport for connectivity to the mainland.
The project gained momentum following the port modernization initiatives of 1742 AN, which saw major investments in Punta Santiago and other Aldurian maritime facilities. Regional officials have argued that permanent transportation links would unlock the economic potential of the islands while enhancing their strategic value as logistics hubs.
Proposed Routes

Valenciana Tunnel
The proposed tunnel to Valenciana would span 129.81 kilometers, making it the second-longest route in the network.
Fontrouet Tunnel
At 120.42 kilometers, the Fontrouet tunnel would be the shortest of the three proposed routes. Its relatively moderate length has led some analysts to suggest it might serve as a pilot project to test engineering solutions before construction of the longer tunnels.
Valladares Tunnel
The 171.66-kilometer tunnel to Valladares would be the longest and most technically challenging component of the project. The extended distance would require advanced ventilation systems, emergency protocols, and potentially intermediate service stations for vehicle safety.
Current Status
As of 1745 AN, the Aldurian Island Tunnel Network remains in the conceptual phase. No official feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, or preliminary engineering designs have been announced by the Department of Civil Works and Transportation.
