The Absentien Corps, which comprised initially 59,965 mustered subjects of the Benacian Union, assigned to the formation of the State Guard of Elluenuueq, was a paramilitary formation which had been raised for the defence of the Governorate of Absentien as of 1728 AN. On paper this would represent a sufficient levy for the establishment of four landstorm divisions and a command staff. The corps would however suffer from the low priority status to which it was assigned for equipment, provisions, officers, and instructors.
In practice, the proximity of the Batavian frontier would see the Corps organised very differently to landstorm standard. It would instead begin 1729 AN as a Mechanised force awaiting mechanisation. The addition of penitents from the Benacian Labour Reserve would raise the entire force to a strength of 61,165 mustered subjects by III.1729.
The corps would be attached to the Kommandostab N&H Förtrupp from the beginning of I.1729, a part of the grouping of forces orientated towards the Batavian Frontier.
