Sierra del Sur is a mountain range and national park located in central Anahuaco.

The mountain range begins in The Green north of Pavón State and runs south, before splitting into two branches, running either side of Ciudad de Anahuaco before petering out towards the empire's southern coast.

The length of the range, as well as its varying altitude, mean that it encompasses a range of climates and ecosystems. The national park includes desert, upland, and coastal climates. The unique environments created by the mountains harbour unique plant and animal species. This uniqueness led to the mountain range being declared the nation's first national park.

Highest Point

The highest peak in the range is El Cerro Del Guaymas, which stands at 3421m above sea level. The peak is located approximately 200km north of Ciudad de Anahuaco.

The height of the mountain, which is relatively unique in eastern Keltia, draws thousands of climbers and tourists each year. While El Cerro Del Guaymas is considered comparatively easy to climb compared to other mountains of its height, fatalities do occur on a semi-regular basis, with even experienced climbers sometimes struggling with the mountain's hostile climate.

In addition to climbers, El Cerro Del Guaymas also attracts casual hikers, who make use of the national park's walking trails in the mountain's foothills. Small airlines based in Ciudad de Anahuaco offer flights to see the mountain from the comfort of an aircraft, for those less inclined to undertake physical activity.

Nature

The national park designation was granted in recognition of the area's varied and pristine natural environment. Despite this, different parts of the park offer different levels of environmental integrity. Several cities fall within the boundaries of the national park, including the empire's capital, and these cities are exempt from the stringent environmental protections that govern the rest of the park. Despite this, environmental contamination, including water, air, and light pollution continue to cause damage outside of the urban environment.

Climate highlights of the national park include desert ecosystems and upland fine forests. The national park's logo depicts a black pigmy scorpion, which is found only in the north of the Sierra del Sur.
