Overview

The Caputian Armed Forces are a large conventional force organised along Terran lines. Administratively it is based upon the tri-service structure inherited from the National Provisional Authority (NPA) after the Hammish Civil War, codified by the Royal Proclamation issued on 16.XI.1654[1]. Operationally however it has been heavily influenced by the doctrines of the victorious Hammish Republican Army and the National Salvation Front, integrating all force elements in the battlespace under a unified command. To this end sixteen combined arms corps, assigned with appropriate land, maritime, and aviation assets, provide for the territorial defence of the Caputian Union and its overseas territories.

Operational and administrative control of the Caputian military, under the oversight of the civilian Defence Office, is vested in the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces. The chiefs of staff for the service branches of the Armed Forces are appointed by the sovereign on the advice of her Prime Minister. The sovereign also appoints a Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff with the advice and consent of the Prime Minister.
