Nathan Waffel-Paine

Nathan Shepard is from St. Louis, Missouri, USA, and was born on September 20, 1987. He is a graduate student at the University of Iowa pursuing an MA in art history. He taught college students for a year as a TA but hated them all.

Nathan is most widely known for founding Natopia. He has been a citizen of many different nations throughout his 8 year career as a micronationalist including: Antica, Shireroth, Stormark, Gotzborg, Lavalon, among several others.

In 2010 Nathan received a prestigious FNORD, the Shane Odlum Award for Overall Achievement for his continued development and achievements in Natopia. Sources close to him report that he never felt more vindicated by any other award in his life, and his voice was non-characteristically lacking sarcasm.

He is often very transparent, seldom separating his microlife from his real one, using his real name and incorporating important personal issues such as gay rights into his projects and being one of the more outspoken gay micronationalist.
