Eshinin ra Uri (born 9.VII.1711 AN) is a male Çer activist and politician of Nouvelle Alexandria. As of 1754 AN, he represents a portion of eastern Alduria in the Federal Assembly as an independent, espousing a platform that might be loosely described as green anarcho-communist.
Eshinin is his personal name. ra Uri translates as "son of Uri" and is his mother-name - for a male Çer the equivalent of a human "maiden name" - which he has kept despite his marriage.
Early life
Eshinin is a hatchling of the sixth and last clutch of his mother, Uri par Peshli, and her husbands. Eshinin's parents were originally settled in the Razamin Desert between what is now Massina and Étréchy - near the route of Nouvelle Alexandrie's Southern Relief Line but which was, at the time, part of the Green. After the decision of the Thraci Confederation to seize the desert in 1693 AN, the family was among the wave of Çer refugees that flooded into the coastal states of southern Alduria, and which then populated the newly-created Çerid Autonomous State in 1699 AN. Eshinin, and his siblings of the last three clutches of the family, were therefore among the earliest generation of Çerid to be born within the relative stability and modernity of the ÇAS.
Activism
The rapid expansion of the population placed significant pressure on the building of infrastructure - which had already started with a handicap in the ÇAS compared to more developed parts of Alduria - to keep up. The money to be made in land for infrastructure projects, the resulting laxity in environmental considerations, and the influence of human-led companies in the process of planning and construction, all dovetailed with increasing demands on the efforts of the migratory bands of male Çer workers that were performing much of the groundwork.
Local politics
1734 elections
Eshinin's first foray into politics came during the general election of 1734, where he stood for an Aladurkidal-based seat in the Takileshidgul, the legislature of the ÇAS.
1739 elections
after what was an unusually lively campaign season even by Çer standards, the vote was heavily skewed along gender lines, with male bands forming the core of Eshinin's support.
1744 elections
Regional and federal politics
1749 elections
1754 elections
Though he has shown some willingness to work with the FCP on a case-by-case basis, he is quite obviously more at home with the positions of the AJNE in general and the Wakara People's Party in particular.
Personal life
Though Eshinin uses his mother-name both publicly and legally, he is married, one of two husbands of Setim par Kalashi.
