The Aerlan general election of 1750 is scheduled to be held from 1.V.1750 AN to 7.V.1750 AN to elect all 110 seats of the National Assembly and the President.

Incumbent President Michel Sabbagh is ineligible for reelection because the President is limited to two five-year terms under the 12th Amendment to the Aerlan Constitution. In his stead, the Conservative Bloc elected Brandon Greiss as their candidate. The Reformist Bloc, coming off back-to-back electoral defeats, elected Assemblyman Thomas Guthrie. The Agrarian Bloc and Nazarene Bloc elected Leon Hart and Cheri Dunbar respectively.

Campaign Issues

  • Church Affairs: Guthrie, in line with the Reformist platform, seeks the abolition of the Department of Church Affairs and heavily criticized Sabbagh’s appointment of James Lansa, a priest, as Secretary. Greiss stated his intent to keep the DoCA in “full operation”
  • Environmental Sustainability: Greiss praised the Energy Independence Act, 1744 as a “Second Declaration of Independence” and that he would look to expand the amount of funds allocated to domestic resource exploitation. Guthrie stated that, if elected, he would look at repealing the act and “Put Aerla back on track as a pioneer and world-leader in renewable energy.”
