The Free Republic of Ailan Feq is a people's republic of Sanama, consisting of five large islands off the southern coast. The republic has an area of 18,500 km2 and a population of over one million, making it one of the smallest republics in both area and population. It was formed in 1702 following the Sanaman Civil War, while the rest of the former Yardistani islands were ceded to Shireroth. It is a largely rural republic, dominated by fig plantations, cattle farms and swine farms. A majority of the figs consumed in Sanama are grown here. The capital Higko City is located on the northern tip of Higko Island. It is bordered to the north by the Awhara Channel and across that Pixa Teta, to the east by the Santa Clara Channel and Harekina, and to the south So Sara in Shireroth, across the Ayreon Straits.
Geography
In the south are the Fig islands, five islands ceded by Drak-Modan to Sanama. The name comes from the abundance of both cultivated and naturally occuring fruit on the islands. The four eastern islands have sandy beaches and dense palm tree and tropical forests, while the westernmost island is more ragged with steep cliffs and exposed rock.
Economy
The islands of the republic are the largest producers of fruit in Sanama.
