Operation Southwatch was a military and strategic operation launched by the Confederate States of Floria in 1743 to assert control over the former territory of North Antarctica, a region that had long been abandoned and left without central governance. The operation's primary objective was to secure former research stations, establish a permanent Florian presence, and exploit natural resources in the region.
Background
Following the collapse of North Antarctica as a sovereign state, the region fell into obscurity, with only remnants of former infrastructure and isolated scientific outposts scattered across the icy expanse. As Floria's geopolitical influence has expanded particularly in the southern hemisphere, the need for secure logistical routes and military outposts in the region grew. Floria sought to establish a foothold in this unclaimed territory, motivated by the potential access to mineral resources and its strategic location for future naval and air operations.
Livingston was declared again as the capital of the new territory to be called Florian Antartica.
