Integration of the United Principalities into the Aemilian Federation

The integration of the United Principalities into the Aemilian Federation refers to the process that started after the conclusion of the Aemilian intervention in the United Principalities which saw the annexation of the United Principalities of Cibola by the Aemilian Federation, as the process continued, the Cibolan principalities and imperial cities were no longer called Cibolan but rather referred to as the new jurisdictions, compared to the old jurisdictions that were part of the Aemilian Federation before the war. The process was overseen by Theodor Katzenfreund, a confidant of Princess Emilia Antoinette. The following points were considered the most important:

• Integration of the Cibolan military in the Aemilian military structure.
• Investigating whether crimes had been committed during the war, and prosecuting the perpetrators regardless of affiliation.
• Investigating the extent of unintended deaths and injuries inflicted on the civilian population, as well as damages done to their possessions.
• Preparing Cibolan society for the adoption of the Aemilan legal, economic and systems.

Integration of the Cibolan military in the Aemilian military structure

Directly after the war had ended, the Cibolan military had been ordered to return to their bases, lay down their weapons and hand over these bases to the Aemilian Kriegskorps Ludwigshafen, after which the soldiers were sent home. This did not mean that they were fired from their positions, soldiers were sent home for at least two weeks of paid leave, paid by the Scuta Aemilia so that they could rest. After these two weeks, the soldiers would be invited to a course, offered by the Scuta Aemilia that would inform them of the code of ethics, that all military personnel of the Aemilian Federation needs to abide by. All soldiers were expected to fulfil the contracts that they had signed with the Cibolan military, under the conditions that they had signed for.

High ranking Cibolan officers, OF-4 and higher, were treated differently, being given three options. The first option was that they could swear allegiance to the Aemilian Federation, follow a one year military academy education in Stadt Sankt Rosa, and would be allowed to return in a similar rank. The second option was that they could swear allegiance to the Aemilian Federation, retire with a generous pension based on their current wages, receive honourable discharge, all on the condition that they would not get involved in any activities inconsistent with the sovereignty of the Aemilian Federation over all its territory. The third option was to face a court martial trial, with the risk of facing a dishonourable discharge for refusal of service, and one year of imprisonment.

It was the opinion of the Scuta Aemilia that integration of the Cibolan military would be achieved the soonest if the soldiers formerly serving in the Cibolan military would serve in the traditional Aemilian units, such as the Kriegskorps and perform exercises with these units. The Cibolan units were not disbanded, but they would be lead by a mix of officers, and include soldiers, from the old and new Aemilian jurisdictions.
