The partition of Alrig was a peaceful geopolitical event that happened in 1731. Leading up to the events, the late 1720's saw a rise of Kildari immigrants in the Alriggian countryside, while the city of Sint Anna began turning more and more to the similarly spirited nation of the Confoederatio Aemilia. As the Kildari immigrants began questioning the protectorate status of the Alriggian Republic and sought annexation by the Imperial Republic of Shireroth, many in Sint Anna expressed a preference to end the protectorate status and join the Aemilian confederation instead. In the 1730 Alriggian elections, candidate Eduard Straatenmaaker promised that he would call for a referendum on the future of Alrig. After negotiations with Shireroth and Aemilia, it was agreed to divide Alrig in four districts, each district would vote whether it would be absorbed into Shireroth, or into Aemilia.
