Anders Defense Review of 1716
The Anders Defense Review, named for Secretary of Defense Frederik Anders the Younger, was conducted in 1716 AN and led to a comprehensive overhaul and reorganisation of the Natopian Defense Force, including the Natopian Army, between 1716 AN-1740 AN.
The review marked a complete restructuring of the Army's traditional establishment that had been in place since the War of Lost Brothers in the mid 17th century after Norton.
In the wake of the review, the Natopian Navy suffered from lower prioritisation and resourcing compared to the Army and Spacefleet branches.
This relative neglect of the Navy was partly due to the ability of orbital platforms under the control of the Spacefleet to perform some strategic missions that navies traditionally handled.
The process of seriously rebuilding and recapitalising the Natopian Navy did not begin in earnest until 1719 AN, by which point many vessels dating back to the War of Lost Brothers were already being decommissioned.
