Monsaltus is the capital city of the Falangina region, located on a small island within the nation of Vegno. This charming community, with a population of approximately 11,472, is in a unique geographic location,, as well as a strong maritime economy.
Geography
Monsaltus is located in the extreme northern part of the island of Falangina, surrounded by the Northern Sea. The island itself features a diverse geography, with a rugged coastline, sandy beaches, towering cliffs and lush rainforest. The city sits along the western coast of the island, embracing panoramic ocean views and enjoying spectacular sunsets.
In the innermost part of the city there is a very characteristic historic center with period buildings.

History
The history of Monsaltus dates back to ancient times when the island of Falangetta was inhabited by native populations. Over the years, the island was the subject of disputes between various kingdoms and empires that sought to control it due to its strategic maritime positioning. During the past years, Monsaltus was part of the Freeland Republic, sharing a historical connection with nearby Sancrus (previously Viten).
However, the Second Vegnese War of Independence led to an important change in the history of Monsaltus. The island was annexed to the Republic of Vegno as part of the peace agreement that ended the conflict. This transition led to greater development of maritime infrastructure and growth of the fishing industry.
Climate
Monsaltus enjoys a distinctive Nordic climate. Winters are cold, with average temperatures below freezing, and heavy snowfall. Summers are mild and pleasant, with average temperatures around 20-25 degrees Celsius. The maritime climate helps to keep summers cool and winters less harsh than continental areas.

Given its isolated position, Monsaltus is connected to the rest of the nation of Vegno mainly via maritime connections and ferries. These transportation services are essential for the movement of goods and passengers to and from the island. At the moment, Monsaltus hasn't got any airport yet.
