- 1717-01: The Sultan dissolved Al-Majlis Al-Watani, following the fall of the cabinet.
- 1716-29: Grand Vizier Mohamed Van de Vijver loses a vote of confidence in Al-Majlis Al-Watani. The Socialist Platform withdrew its support for the Secular Alliance led coalition due to that party's proposed constitutional reform.
- 1716-27: The Socialist Platform calls for a vote of no confidence against Grand Vizier Mohamed Van de Vijver.
- 1716-25: Grand Vizier Mohamed Van de Vijver (Secular Alliance) declared his intention to go ahead with constitutional reform and remove religious references from the constitution, in spite of their coalition partner's reluctance.
- 1715-12: Mohamed Van de Vijver (pictured) becomes Grand Vizier in an anti-IPP coalition.
- 1715-04: The IPP lost heavily in the 1715 Kurum Ash-Sharqia general election, but remained the largest party.
