The FDC tramways (Alexandrian: Trávias de la Cárdenas) consist of a network of modern tram in the Cárdenas region of Nouvelle Alexandrie. In total, 16 tram lines are currently operational (including two 'event-only' lines), with extensions currently in the planning. The tram network extends to the suburbs and agglomeration of Cárdenas. Most trams are connected through a central Metro hub station, although several are unconnected.
The lines were first opened in 1686 AN as use for urban transport. There were only 7 lines then, but extensions came soon. All lines are run by the Federal District Transport Authority, which also run the Metro and Bus lines in the Cárdenas area. Most lines are steel-wheel lines, however three lines (T4, T5, and T11) use rubber-tired trams. Furthermore, the Conzalito Tram-Train is actually counted among the Metro instead of the Tramways. The trams were replaced twice since the inception: the T-2000 is now the main vehicle on most lines, however the older models are used on tracks with lower power supply
