2021 Sanaman Elite Hockey League
The 2021 Sanaman Elite Hockey League is the first season of the newly formed professional ice hockey league in Sanama. It was created by a consortium of Sanaman business people, with each team owning an equal share in the Sanaman Elite Hockey Association. The requirement to join the league was financial viability, size of the local media market, and size and quality of the arena. The league is contested by 14 teams over 52 rounds and a playoff to determine the champion. The league does not feature the best hockey team in Sanama, the Fatehpur Sikri Buccaneers, which will compete in the MEHL.

Play-out
The bottom two teams will play any eligible teams applying for entry into the league. The top two finishers in that group stage will play in the 2021–22 Sanaman Elite Hockey League. Teams face every other team twice, home and away, and no points are retained from the regular season. If there are no teams applying for entry, no Playout will be held. Teams from the SEHL that do not qualify for the next season will play in the Sanaman Challenge Hockey League. Only teams finishing in the top two of the SCHL are eligible to apply. These teams must also satisfy certain commercial and organisational criteria. The playout stage has been cancelled for the 2021 season due to the expansion of the league from 14 to 20 teams.
Play-offs
The teams finishing in seventh to tenth place qualify for the play-in stage. The competition uses a cup format, with seed 7 playing seed 10, and seed 8 playing seed 9 in a best of three playoff. Seeds 7 and 8 have home ice advantage, both starting and ending at home. The two winners advance to the quarter-finals, with the higher-ranked team from the league stage qualifying as seed 7 and the lower-ranked team as seed 8.
The top six teams automatically advance to the quarter-finals. Each round at this stage and later is played as a best-of-seven series. In the quarter-finals the first seed will play the eighth seed, the second seed will play the seventh seed, the third seed will play the sixth seed, and the fourth seed will play the fifth seed. For the semi-finals, the highest-ranked team from the league stage will play the lowest-ranked team, with the two remaining teams facing each other. All tied games are decided by OT periods, with no shoot-outs. Multiple additional overtime periods are used if necessary.
