Avenue of the Workers' Revolution

The Avenue of the Workers' Revolution, colloquially known as The Avenue, is a latitudinal straight forty-kilometre long straight avenue in Eliria, Elwynn's capital. It ends by the former Krull Palace (whose main entrance however is located at another street). Built in 1613 immediately after the Communist Workers' Revolution, its construction displaced several hundred thousand of people in the Old Town of Eliria as well as in other districts of Eliria. Broad and wide, it is Eliria's only avenue – aside from this avenue, central Eliria is known for its narrow, quirky and bendy roads.

The neighbourhoods immediate to the Avenue are built in the style of socialist realism, with some brutalist architecture further towards the outskirts.

Name

During the reign of King Noah, the Vanic regime attempted to rename the avenue "The White Orchid Avenue", but the Eliria City Council refused any changes of the names. Even the Nationalist-Humanists, whose rule was ended by the so-called Workers' Revolution, refused to let the Vanic regime gain anything from renaming the street (after the Vanic regime shot down Vigeland Avenue and Kaiser Dominus Avenue as unacceptable "too political" proposals) probably thinking that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". This brought about an informal EWP–N&H coalition in Eliria which lasted until the first Elwynnese civil war in the mid-1650s. As such, despite the majesty of the Avenue, the Vanic regime refused to ever hold a ceremony or procession on Eliria's only procession-friendly street. This was considered a victory by the EWP and the N&H, though the AIP continued to attempt to find a compromise, stopping short of actually accepting the White Orchid Avenue after an internal party referendum considered the proposed name to be too Vanic-friendly, as it mirrirored other White Orchid-named things in Elwynn, such as the White Orchid Throne.
