The City of Leylstadt was the capital of the Duchy of Leylstadt and current capital of the Leyl Domain. Both the country as the city thank their name to the large river which runs through it, the Leyl.
History
The first city of Leylstadt, before the Disaster of 1680, was centrally located between the old nation's mountain ranges and next to being a major economical and political centre, the most populated. It was originally founded long before 1675 AN as the city of Mahapur as important city within the Principality of Aryasht, but eventually fell into ruin around 1636 AN - during the Euran War - when the last Jingdaoese left the region.
The city was re-established, and most of the buildings, treasures and landmarks were moved along with its citizens thanks to Jingdaoese investments.
The city is considered Leylstadters cultural capital, as a concentration of artists, musicians, writers and architects were gathered and employed by Duke Nicholas. Both the famous architect Adolf Perrier and famous painter, Eugene Courbet, visited the city.
