The Matabese Civil War (1736-present) is an ongoing civil war fought in the Dauian Special Autonomous Region of Mataba from 1736. It is a conflict between the Matabese Liberation Arms (known as the MLA) led by General Tun Ismail Razaqhuiddin and the Joint Dauian-Mataba Forces. The MLA sought to form their own soverign state of Mataba, looking to drive the Dauian influences out of the country, due to the heavily biased political decisions made by the Matabese Royal Assembly and the failing Matabese economy.

Background

Following the passing of the Matabese Autonomy bill which included terms that Matabese citizens would now be treated as foreigners and workers with a Matabese passport would be treated as foreign workers, thus causing an exodus of Matabese workers in Daau and angering the Matabese public as now there was a lack of jobs in Daau avalible. The bill however did not impose any restrictions on Dauian citizens, heavily favouring those of Dauian nationality. Alongside the effects of the bill, the failing economy due to poor government spending and long-standing corruption issues caused a mass social uproar against the Royal Matabese Family, leading to the Sultan's evacuation in 1736.9, delegating the country to the Crown Prince.

However this would only further worsen the situations as protests in Inner Mataba intensified, with insurgents from Basagrande getting involved, causing a full-on riot in the North District, thus leading to clashes with the local police force before the army was involved. The hyperinflation meant that banks were being robbed, stores were broken into and civilian lives were disrupted. Dauians living in Mataba were forced to return to Daau for their own safety as the army got involved on the 1736.11, declaring it to be a full on civil war.
