The Union of Christian Democrats or UCN, was a short lived political party, founded by Franco Torres, that existed between February 2008 and May 2008. Torres had originally been an Imperial Parliament for the Alexandrian Conservative Party before deciding to form his own new party.
The move to form a new party was in itself controversial. The Interior Minister at the time, Jean Michel Leclerc, was reluctant to grant the UCN the right to organise due to the party having only one member. Unfortunately for Leclerc, due to a lack of legislation governing the formation of political parties, he had no option but to accept the application. As it was, Leclerc would later be tempted to join the UCN, but instead opted to remain independent whilst part of the New Majority in early 2008.
The UCN's demise was concurrent with that of its founder. With Torres charged with treason, Leclerc was able to legally suspend the party forums of the UCN before deciding in late May that the party leader had abandoned the party, and thus he closed it.
