Republican Left is a party that is a fusion between Democratisch, Direct, Progressief (Democratic, Direct, Progressive) and Rede (Reason). The party's main goal was to let Batavia become a republic instead of a kingdom. In 1575 the party was temporarily merged into the newly formed Kroonrepublikeinen (Crown Republicans), which united republican ideas with monarchist ideas.
The party was revived and returned in the 1680 Lagerhuis elections with five seats.
