Sozin V of Eternia, born Solomon Sozin Aquelish, is the third King of Eternia. Like his predecessors, he is known as "Aquelish" ("The Ice King") due to a Senate decree granting the former king and his successors this name in perpetuity in 1736 AN. Unlike his calm and taciturn grandfather Sozin III, Sozin V is an outgoing, charismatic individual who became involved in both Eternian and Ralgonese diplomacy since the start of his reign. He is the successor of his father Sozin IV (who refused the kingship and abdicated as soon as his own successor took the crown) and grandfather Sozin III, who abdicated in 1737 AN, less than a month before Sozin V's own coronation.
Like his predecessors, he is known to be very tolerant of other faiths, and adopted Draconic as his own faith some time before 1740 AN. He began his reign as the first king of Eternia to reign under the auspices of the Imperial Federation, after Eternia acceded to the former in 1736 AN shortly before his widely popular grandfather's abdication due to old age. Unlike the coronation by acclaim that took place in the legal void the first king stepped into, Sozin V's process was considerably more formal, with the Senate offering him the kingship with Emperor Anarion's tacit approval, then followed by a public referendum of eligible voters (mostly a small cadre of nobles, landowners, and other elites) confirming his rule after a year into his reign.
As of 1743 AN, he is 31 years old, reigning for 6 years. No longer a religious ruler, the new king was freed to pursue diplomacy on behalf of both his native Eternia and the wider Imperial Federation. Most notable of his early accomplishments was the negotiations with Constancia over the status of Beihagh, after Constancia's integration of Suren in the late 1730's AN.
