The CF-230 is an unpressurized, all-metal high-wing commuter aircraft known for its low maintenance and operating costs, as well as its versatile design, which allows for special interchangeable configurations. All models feature a retractable undercarriage. It includes two hydraulic circuits — one primary and one for emergencies — and operates on a 28V DC electrical system. Its de-icing system consists of pneumatic deicers on the leading edges and electrical heating for the propellers, cockpit windshields, and pitot-static system heads. It has a maximum take-off weight of 6,400 kg, which can be increased to 6,600 kg, and can seat between 17 and 19 passengers. It is also equipped with five-blade propellers.
