The IE-7 Songbird is a low-wing, tandem-seat, single-turboprop, basic trainer aircraft developed by IrenEnt (IDB-10). An initial limited run of 40 was purchased by the Imperial Forces in 1691 AN as part of a program to extend air capacity beyond that of the Flying Guards based in Shirekeep, especially in the arena of close air support. Comparable function to the T-2/A-2 Saeqeh, though underpowered in comparison.
In 1699 AN, following the integration of Drak-Modani defense companies into the Shirerithian R&D system, the Imperial Forces contracted for the development of an "Extended Songbird" upgraded with the more advanced technology now available.
