The Directorate of Finance was an office within the Royal Chancellery of Gotzborg responsible for administering the Royal Government's finances.
History
The Directorate of Finance was created on March 17, 2013, when the Government Finance Act received Royal Assent from His Royal Majesty. Its creation was spurred by a need for one central office within the Royal Government to create its annual budget, manage its bank accounts, and ensure that both the public and Royal Cabinet Office were regularly updated as to the state of the Royal Kingdom's finances.
Duties & Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the Directorate as defined under Section 6 of the Government Finance Act included:
- Develop and monitor the budget of the Royal Government for each fiscal year;
- Monitor the accounts, assets and liabilities of the Royal Government;
- Manage the offering or purchase of bonds and other securities to raise revenue for the Royal Government;
- Provide advice on government fiscal policy to the Royal Chancellor;
- Administer the payroll office as defined in the Crown Servant Salary Act; and,
- Author and issue related reports;
Director
The Director of Finance was responsible for the administration of the Directorate as per Article 5 of the Government Finance Act. The only person who held the position of Director was John Leterd, who was appointed to the position by Royal Chancellor Liam Sinclair on August 25, 2015. Leterd remained in the role until Gotzborg's hiatus in 2017.
