It is not to be confused with improper payments, which is a form of corruption and abuse of public office which would warrant the attentions of the Benacian Censorate and the Magisters-Carnifex. To publicly confuse or conflate consideration with malfeasance is properly considered an offence, for which penitent service in the Benacian Labour Reserve may be mandated.

A guidance note, correcting misapprehensions in this regard, was issued by the Benacian Censorate on 19.I.1734 AN.
