The Amokolian Orthodox Church, officially known as the Orthodox Church of Amokolia and Elwynn is the largest Nazarene church in Amokolia and Elwynn, with the largest fellowship in the historical Mishalan region. It is an autocephalous, and the oldest continuous, church within the Orthodox family of the Nazarene religion.
History
The Church came to Benacia through the Ocian era of Amokolia, during which it was the state-sanctioned church (as part of the Ocian Orthodox Church), and supplanted the existing Nazarene churches. After the Amokolian War, the church split from the Ocian Church (though remaining in full communion). After Amokolia's joining of Elwynn, the church was renamed the Orthodox Church of Amokolia and Elwynn.
During the Vanic era, it was severely suppressed by the Froyalanish leadership due to its conservative views on sexuality, nudity and marriage. As such, it is, despite its continuous conservativeness that remain in odds with Elwynnese liberalism, well-regarded in Elwynn for taking a lead in the fight against the Vanic supremacists. The Church sanctioned the Auspicious Occasion as a holy crusade, though regrets the loss of life.
Following the Kalirion Fracture Mishalan was occupied by the Black Legions at the behest of Benacia Command, thereafter administered by Unified Governorates of Benacia until exchanged with Elwynn for the Trans-Elwynn region. During this time the Church was not subjected to any especial persecution, but in recent years those congregations which have remained within UGB administered territory, such as the Autonomous Bailiwick of Mishagrad, have become subject to the full obligations and rigors of the Covenant and officially integrated to the Covenanted Nazarene Church of Benacia.
With the conquest of Amokolia during the Second Elwynnese Civil War, the remaining congregations of the Amokolian Orthodox Church were also obliged to submit to the jurisdiction of the Covenanted Nazarene Church.
