Kilkelly United was founded in 2013 and was relegated in 2015. After this disappointment, Kilkelly businessman Sion Ikenberry bought the club and invested a substantial amount of his personal money. Kilkelly United returned to the highest league the following year, where it has remained since. Kilkelly United plays at the Athenry Fields.
