The Nova England by-election of 2012 was held in June 2012 to elect the Nova English and Nova English Korean representatives to the Mercurian Parliament. Voting took place in 39 constituencies, each electing one representative, using the instant-runoff voting system.
Overview
This was the first election in Nova England since the abandoned election of 2010. All three Mercurian parties stood in the election, as well as the Conservative-Royalist Party led by Charles Tudor.
Parties
- National Party – led by Joe Foxon, the incumbent President of Mercury. The National Party was the majority party in the Mercurian Parliament.
- Mercurian Labour Party – led by Mary Lipton, officially the opposition party in Parliament.
- Conservative Party – led by James Cardley.
- Conservative-Royalist – led by Charles Tudor. A nationalist party seeking more autonomy for Nova England.
