Butterbucht

Butterbucht, formerly Boterbaai, is a city in the Confoederatio Aemilia, in the jurisdiction of Sankt Rosa, just north of Stadt Sankt Rosa. The city was established by the Republic of the United Cities in the Lanzerwald on the ruins of the Western Natopian military base Zaddi's Bay Defense Zone. The city was founded after the conclusion of the Lanzerwaldian-Whaler War, in which Zaddi's Bay was conquered by the Lanzerwald, on 14.V.1710, a day after the peace treaty was signed by the formerly warring parties. The city was named Boterbaai in honour of the Natopian belief in a deity called the Butter Bull, boter is Cibolan-Diets for butter. In the first years after its establishment, the city was home to just 500 inhabitants, many living in the buildings constructed out of thick concrete that were left by the Natopians. A continuing menace to the local population were the fields of landmines, that prevented the parents in Boterbaai from allowing their children to play outside unattended. The clearing of these minefields was the task of the 1ste Krijgskorps, which normally deploys a single company to the city on a rotational basis. The effort to clear the mines was finished in the second half of 1715.

After the establishment of Stadt Sankt Rosa in 1723, and the immigration of millions of people to that city in the following years, Boterbaai gained a Cibolan-Saxon speaking majority and its name was changed to Butterbucht. As of 1737, Butterbucht is part of the agglomeration of Sankt Rosa.

Bovic chapel

Butterbucht is home to the only formal Bovic place of worship in the republic. A chapel formerly in use by the Natopian Defense Force XXX/4/2 Brigade, that was damaged in the war, has been restored with funds provided by the Steden-Generaal. The chapel, which is the spiritual home of around 70 believers of Natopian descent, is part of the diocese of the Bosarch of Luix-Satyria.
