Jitō (じとう) is a city in eastern Sanpantul, located on the coast of the Captive Sea in East Sandwich. It has a population of approximately 286,555 (1747) and is considered one of the quieter urban centers in comparison to the nearby capital, Kipei.

Geography

Jitō lies on the Captive Sea shoreline, making it an important maritime stop for trade routes that connect East Sandwich with the interior regions. The city functions largely as a commercial and transport hub, with goods from Kipei frequently passing through its port facilities.

History

The area has been associated with the Hererik peoples since the period of Treesia and Fabon, and references to Jitō as a settlement appear in local chronicles from that era. During the Fabon period, fortifications were established in the form of the Fabon Walls, which remain one of the city’s most significant landmarks.

Over the centuries, Jitō retained its reputation as a mercantile town rather than an industrial center. Unlike many other East Sandwich cities, it avoided the dominance of heavy industry and instead specialized in processing and trade.

Economy

The city is notable for hosting pulp and sugar processing plants, which form the backbone of its economy. While Kipei is a center for politics and administration, Jitō serves as a practical trade gateway, channeling goods from the capital toward the Captive Sea and beyond.
