Reichsborg is a ruined city in Moorland. It used to be the capital of Ostland. Its main landmark is the royal seat of power, Eisenwald Castle, which housed the Royal Family of Ostland since it was built until the Burwood Wildfires.
Settlement
The city known today as Reichsborg was settled sometime around 3,500 years ago, although no detailed records of that period exist. It is regarded as the city and region originally settled by Ostlanders, following their migration across the Strait of Haifa as lead presumably by Waaldemar.
Original Name
Reichsborg was not the original name of the settlement and eventual ancient city which became Reichsborg. Only around 500 years ago did the name officially become Reichsborg, following a unification of the Grand Duchies under a single monarch of the Eisenwald-am-Silberstrom line.
As far as many of the available ancient records show, the main settlement in the area that developed into the city of Reichsborg over the millennia, the original Proto-Ostlandic name for Reichsborg was 'Hultastrauma', translating roughly to 'Wooded Stream'. This must of course be referring to the Silberstrom River and the Eisenwald Forest within the Archduchy of Eisenwald-am-Silberstrom. This later evolved into the previous name of Holzstadt, with official records showing the change from Holzstadt to Reichsborg in 1220 AN.
The Holzstadt Historical District of Reichsborg was the historical center of the original city of Holzstadt.
The city was destroyed in the Burwood Wildfires and, as of 1728 AN, has yet to be rebuilt. Most of the refugee population was resettled west at St. Joseph's.
Landmarks
Reichsborg was home to several cultural and civil landmarks of Ostland.
