Hyllandor is a medium-sized hold within the Kingdom of Ashinthael. It is generally an agricultural region but has also produced many of the most notable magicians and sorcerers in the kingdom. The hold was established by remnant Elfinshi who survived the collapse of Menelmacar and went into hiding in the Teir'Dal Wasteland. They remained in hiding throughout Ashinthael's dark ages but came to light in more recent centuries after the Ashinthalers re-established their link with the dragon population. The locals called the hold Hyllandor, ancient Menelmacari for "highland", for the numerous hills that helped keep the population hidden for so many years.
