The Gravmech Combined Arms Battalion, or GCAB. is a core military unit in the armed forces of several Mondosphere countries, which began replacing the Gravmech Infantry Regiment in the early 1750 ANs. The term "Gravmech" is a contraction of "Gravimetric-mechanised" and indicates that the units are equipped with gravimetric vehicles.

Organisation

Type 1752

Organisation of an East Zimian and Wallisian Gravmech Combined Arms Battalion, 1752 AN

Gravmech Combined Arms Battalions originally consisted of a headquarters company with supply, medical and maintenance platoons, two gravmech infantry companies, a gravmech reconnaissance company, a gravmech armoured squadron and a gravmech artillery battery.

Type 1753

Organisation of a West Corumian Gravmech Combined Arms Battalion, 1753 AN

In 1753 AN, Western Corum began to reorganise local GCABs according to a revised table of organisation and equivalent. The infantry and recon companies each lost one platoon, while the armoured squadron was disbanded and its three troops distributed among the former; a new quadwalker company of four platoons replaced the armoured squadron. Most GEVs were allocated an additional zombot as a dedicated driver, owing to ongoing concerns with the automated driving capabilities of the vehicles under combat conditions.

The changes resulted in a small reduction in overall personnel (746 to 738), albeit with a higher proportion of zombots in support roles (208 to 314).
