Regional Governor of Boriquén
The Regional Governor of Boriquén is the chief executive of the Region of Boriquén within the Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie. The Governor is responsible for the administration of regional government, implementation of laws passed by the Areyto Legislativo de Boriquén, and representation of Boriquenese interests within the federal system. The office was established upon Boriquén's admission to the Federation in 1718 AN. The Governor is elected by popular vote to a five-year term and may seek re-election. With approximately 16.3 million inhabitants, Boriquén is the cultural and political heartland of the Wakara people, whose distinct traditions, language, and the Yukiyu Atabey faith have shaped the region's identity within the Federation.
The current Regional Governor is Joaquín Torres of the Wakara People's Party. Torres won the 1749 gubernatorial election following the death of incumbent Governor Hernando Colón Vega of the Federal Humanist Party, who died while campaigning for re-election.
