Regional Governor of the Wechua Nation
The Regional Governor of the Wechua Nation is the chief executive of the Wechua Nation within the Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie. The Governor is responsible for the administration of regional government, implementation of laws passed by the Council of the Realm, and representation of Wechua interests within the federal system. The office was established upon the Wechua Nation's entry into the Federation in 1685 AN as one of the two founding Regions. The Governor is elected by popular vote to a five-year term and may seek re-election. As the second most populous Region in the Federation, with over 64 million inhabitants, and the ancestral homeland of the royal family, the Governor of the Wechua Nation holds considerable political influence at both the regional and federal levels.
The current Regional Governor is Tupaq Amaru Quispe of the Federal Humanist Party. Quispe won the 1749 general election, defeating Spencer Valverde of the Alliance for a Just Nouvelle Alexandrie and Tupac Francisco Lopez of the Federal Consensus Party.
