The Thing of the Realm of the Lakes, usually called the Thing or the Thing of the Lake District, is the unicameral legislature of the Lake District. It consists of 99 members of the Thing (MTs) and is elected every six years, unless prematurely dissolved. The Thing is chaired by the Speaker (õigusmees in Lakkvian, lagmaðr in Hurmu Norse), Martiina Lüüdiatütar (since 1729).
