Borgarhafn (Army Crandish: Borgarhamn; Storish: Borgarhöfn) is a city and municipality in eastern Lake District, covering the eastern half of Lake Shelm (Silma) and some land north, south and east of the lake. Population (1752) 472,789 people. The main city, Borgarhafn, is situated on the southern shore of the lake. Other important town in the municipality are Gaarðsjoo (from where Allan uti Gaarðsjoo hails), Nomaby, Jaklastaðr, Tindatun, and Oovavatn.
The municipality borders in a clockwise direction Oystra Laastrand (to the north), Viðarland (to the north and east), Lindedal (to the east and south), Suðrvatnum (to the south and west), and Kaupang (to the west).
