Zauberburg

Zauberburg is a maritime fortress off the coast of Walstadt, to defend the bay in which Walstadt is located from hostile forces. Construction of the fortress began on 12.XV.1744. To start construction, barges and decommissioned ships filled with rocks were sunk on the location, a shoal, to create a foundation for the fortress. With dredgers, sand was applied to the site to create an artificial island, spanning 30 acres. On top of the island, large concrete bunkers were constructed, that were armed with 350mm naval guns, anti-naval rockets, anti-air batteries and a landing site for rescue and attack helicopters. A small harbour will allow the Classis to moor at the fortress.
