Where the Sun Goes Down is a 1703 AN Nouvelle Alexandrie drama film directed and co-written by Isaac Criado.

The film tells the story of Paul (Ganriel Piccio). He retells the story of his relationship with a mysterious girl, Estella (Vivienne Denueve), during a vacation with his friend Carlos (Horatio Olleros).

Plot

During a vacation in the Southern Aldurian Riviera with his study friend Carlos, Paul, an upcoming writer, covers the story of his first novel that he has just finished, which is about his first love Estella. This girl was mysterious, and the relationship was very eventful. One day, on the beach, they encounter two girls, Julieta and Bianca. Carlos falls in love with Julieta, while Paul feels an instant connection to Bianca, who is studying medicine. He experiences a few intimate moments during the vacation, and eventually discovers that he is in love with her. She asks him to tell her about his book.

Just before going on vacation with Carlos, Paul and Estella had an intense relationship with Estella. The film switches between fragments of their relationship and the vacation in Alduria. The fragments both come from the Roman and internal thoughts. The flashbacks start with the first meeting. They then move to her encouraging him to write instead of studying law. But because of alcohol abuse, Estella develops a condition that leads to jealousy and bizarre self-destruction due to quixotic moods, including a suicide attempt in a hotel room window. They eventually find out she is with child. But after a terrible accident, and a miscarriage, Estella falls into a depression. Paul asks if she wants to go with her on his vacation, but she refuses, and breaks up with him.

Back from vacation and three months later, Paul finds Estella again, her hair short, in a train station. She has started a relation with the abusive Arnaldo, who beats her and cheats on her. She invites Paul back to her room, and tries to have sex with him again. He refuses, however, she tries to force him. Three days later, Paul gets a phone call that Estella jumped down a building and is in the hospital. After a short reunion, she dies from her wounds. He, Carlos, Julieta, and Bianca attend the funeral, where Paul carries the coffin. A week later, Paul publishes his finished novel, and it becomes a success. The film ends with Paul placing the finished book, along with a rose, on Estella's grave, with a final shot of the pages being blown in the wind.
