The Unionfraktion (Common Tongue: Union fraction) is a joint fraction of the Konservative Historische Partei (KHP) (Common Tongue: Conservative Historical Party) and the Parti populaire de Gascogne (PPG) (Common Tongue: Gascon People's Party). The fraction was formed after the connection of Gascogne, through the Treaty of the Northern Hereditary Lands.

History

After the Treaty of the Northern Hereditary Lands was signed, the Conservative Historical Party leadership recognised that the population of Gascony would have a major influence on the composition of the Reichstag. The Frankish Constitution provides for a ratio between the population and the number of seats in the Reichstag. Despite a constitutional amendment changing the ratio, as well as step-by-step elections, the party's existing influence would be under pressure in the long term.

The Conservative Historical Party had the majority in the Reichstag since the revival of the Kingdom of Amokolia. The party leadership didn't want to thwart the Gascon counterpart, namely the Gascon People's Party. For this reason, instead of entering into competition, it was decided to seek cooperation. The day before the Gascony connection, a covenant was signed, in which the parties started working together. The town where the covenant was signed also became the site of the headquarters: Frankfurt-am-Oder.

The cooperation yielded a profit of 61 seats out of 238 eligible seats at the elections in 1682 AN. The joint fraction retained the majority in the Reichstag, leaving the party leader, Augustin Prager, as chancellor. Although in these elections there was no risk of losing the position of largest party in the Reichstag, the cooperation was aimed at lasting cooperation. Especially since in the next two elections mainly KHP seats will be available for election.

The mayor of Brandenburg became the chairman of the union fraction: Eleonora Bluhm. Her election seemed the most obvious. She organized the construction of the new capital of Amokolia, now Francia. The city was built on the tri-state point and out of nothing. The organization of the administration and the cooperation with different layers of government within the Frankish Empire made Eleonora a famous stateswoman.

The covenant and the foundation of the union fraction would come from Eleonora. Part of the Conservative Historical Party hopes that Eleonora will make a throw at party leadership, in order to become a chancellor candidate. She herself holds this off and supports Augustin Prager.

The party leader of the Conservative Historical Party also became the party leader of the union fraction. This was not obvious, despite Augustin Prager already being party leader and chancellor, but a choice of the collaborating parties. Augustin was under criticism, because of Augustin's support for treaties with the Raspur Pact, such as the Concord Treaty. This treaty decreed the official short name of the Kingdom of Amokolia, namely "Amokolia", in "West Amokolia".

In addition, the electoral profit in the 1982 elections can be called marginal, due to the turnout of competing rightwing parties, such as the Elwynnische Einheitspartei and Fränkische Patriotische Partei. Nevertheless, Augustin had sufficient support for the party leadership of the union fraction to remain the strongest contender for the chancellorship. This strategy proved to be the right choice.

Covenant

Broadly speaking, the covenant includes the following agreements:

  • The organisation of the board;
  • The election of the chairman;
  • The election of the party leader;
  • The distribution of constituencies: the Parti populaire de Gascogne to the Gascon Region and the Konservative Historische Partei to the Amokolian Region.

The signing of the covenant, as well as the establishment of the headquarters, was carried out in Frankfurt-am-Oder. This city lies on the border of Gascon Regio, as well as the city where the Constitution of the Frankish Empire was signed in a special session of the Reichstag.
