Between 1718 AN and 1752 AN the interests of the Moorland Armed Forces were represented by Colonel (Ret.) Alfwaerd Killoch as the Defence Chief of the Moorland Witan.
With the promulgation of the Gracious Edict of 1752, the position of Thegn of Defence was created and the royal prince Kenneth MacMartin appointed as the inaugural holder.
