Scorpion bomb
A wax-sealed earthenware "jar" containing live spitting-bile scorpions, the Scorpion bomb, is a Florian anti-personnel device utilised to propagate the introduction of the acid-spitting and lethally venomous stinging creatures into areas where human intrusion is considered undesirable, particularly but not exclusively the closed sections of the frontier with Jingdao. The dimensions of the "jar" are necessarily such as to facilitate its attachment to a training mortar round and launching from a M1676-L6 70mm Barrage Mortar.
As it is necessary to keep the live component of the munition separate from its container until a reasonably short period prior to deployment, some care is required in the assembly of the device. A small portable refrigeration unit is therefore necessary in order to render the spitting-bile scorpions sufficiently docile to safely handle. Even then the loader should be adequately equipped with personal protective equipment, gloves and a corrosion resistant perspex shield-mask, and supported by a second individual with a strong dose of anti-venom serum.
