The Republic of Sankt Ludwigshafen has used partially manned and unmanned aerial vehicles since its intercessor, the Lanzerwald used modified J-1 Lärm planes during the Lanzerwaldian-Whaler War with some success. While the J-1 had to be manned by a pilot until visual contact with the target was made, its successor the J-2 was launched without a pilot and could hit a target 300 kilometres away with an accuracy of 600 meters when all parameters such as wind speed and terrain had properly been accounted for. Both the J-1 and the J-2 were powered by propellors, the first rocket powered missile was presented in XI.1721.
