The Sanama Department of Foreign Affairs is the department responsible for Sanaman foreign relations and foreign trade. It forms a part of the Council of State and is headed by the Secretary for Foreign Affairs, reporting to the Chancellor, and assisted by two Council of State ministers, the Secretary for International Trade and the Secretary for the Raspur Pact, MTO and the South Benacian Community. The department in its current form was created in 1687 with the passage of the national constitution and the beginning of the Third Republic, but it traces its origin to the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs formed in 1673. The secretary directs the work of the department, assisted by several Under Secretaries and Deputy Under Secretaries, with the aim of carrying out relevant legislation and directives from the Council of State, in coordination with the President as head of state.
